Public Survey

SRF’s understanding (google form)

Purpose and Overview

The purpose of this survey was to gather public opinions and understanding about semiconductors and their role in daily life. We wanted to know how much people are aware of Taiwan’s semiconductor industry and whether they understand its importance. To collect different perspectives, we shared the Google Form with a range of participants, including students and individuals from different backgrounds. (fig. 1) Through this survey, we aimed to measure general awareness, knowledge level, and attitudes toward semiconductors. The collected responses helped us understand how well people recognize the importance of chips in modern technology and society.

Methodology

The survey was conducted through Google Forms and remained open for responses for a limited period of time. In total, we collected 30 valid responses, and the summarized results are shown in our response document. Participants answered questions related to their familiarity with semiconductors, their understanding of how chips are used, and their opinions about Taiwan’s semiconductor industry. By reviewing the collected data, we analyzed overall trends in awareness and perception.

Although the number of responses was limited, the results provided meaningful insight into how much the public understands about semiconductors. The findings allowed us to identify areas where knowledge may be strong and areas where more education and awareness are needed.

PUBLIC SURVEY

From the survey results, we observed that public understanding of semiconductors varies. While some participants are aware that chips are important in electronic devices, not everyone fully understands how critical they are to advanced technologies and global supply chains.

This shows that even though Taiwan plays a major role in the semiconductor industry, general knowledge about how the industry works may still be limited. Our survey highlights the importance of increasing awareness, especially among students, about how semiconductors influence everyday life, technological innovation, and the global economy.

Overall, this survey helped us better understand public perception and confirmed the need for clearer explanations and educational efforts about Taiwan’s semiconductor industry.
