Project Goal

Our project aimed to understand the semiconductor production process and learn Taiwan’s role in the global supply chain. We also interviewed industry professionals and shared our findings through a website.

Key Findings

1. Semiconductor production involves three main stages: design, manufacturing, and packaging and testing.

2. Taiwan plays a critical role in the global semiconductor supply chain.

3. Wafer manufacturing requires large amounts of water and electricity.

4. Collaboration between companies and universities is essential.

What We Learned

At the beginning of our study, we saw semiconductors as small and invisible components inside electronic devices. However, after conducting research and interviews, we discovered that the semiconductor industry is a highly complex ecosystem involving chip design, wafer manufacturing, packaging, testing, materials engineering, and global logistics. Each stage requires precision, innovation, and cooperation. We now understand that Taiwan’s success is built not only on advanced technology, but also on teamwork, long-term planning, education, and responsible resource management.

Why Semiconductors Matter

Semiconductors are important because they are the foundation of modern technology. They power smartphones, artificial intelligence systems, electric vehicles, medical equipment, and communication networks. Without semiconductors, modern society would not function as it does today. Taiwan’s ability to design and manufacture advanced chips makes it a key contributor to global innovation and economic stability.

Contribute & Unite

Our research also reflects the CyberFair theme, Contribute & Unite. Taiwan’s semiconductor industry contributes by supplying high-quality chips that support global technological progress. At the same time, it unites companies, engineers, researchers, and nations through collaboration and shared goals. No single company or country can advance semiconductor technology alone—it requires international cooperation and mutual trust.

Final Reflection

In conclusion, although semiconductors are physically small, their impact is enormous. Taiwan’s semiconductor industry not only leads future technologies but also connects the world through innovation, responsibility, and collaboration. Through this project, we gained a deeper appreciation for the hidden systems that power our daily lives and shape our future.
